The big lie

In his book ‘Mein Kampf’ Adolf Hitler wrote that a lie should be so big and outrageous that no one could imagine that someone could have the impudence to distort the truth so completely, and therefore it must represent the truth.

Hitler used this dictum to propagate his theory that the German army in WW1 was defeated by a ‘stab in the back’ by the Jews, and that all evils in Germany and elsewhere were due to the cunning machinations of the Jews.

Following this dictum his Propaganda Minister Dr Goebbels said that the bigger the lie, and the more it is repeated, the more readily will people accept it as the truth.

Evidently the Pakistan army and the ruling PDM agree with this philosophy and follow it.

When violent incidents erupted in Pakistan on 9th May following Imran Khan’s arrest, in which the army GHQ, the Corps Commander’s house, and military installations were attacked, without any investigation as to who was responsible for this, and despite denial by Imran Khan of the PTI’s involvement and his call for a judicial probe, the blame was squarely put on Imran Khan and his party, the PTI, thousands of its leaders, workers, and supporters were arrested, and a reign of terror was imposed in Pakistan, which could only be described in the verses of the famous Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz “ Chali hai rasm ki koi na sar utha ke chale, jo koi chaahne waala tawaaf ko nikle, nazar chura ke chale, jism-o-jaan bacha ke chale “.

Now another big lie has been propagated : that 30-40 terrorists are holed up in Imran Khan’s house.

Though 80% Pakistanis support Imran Khan, as they regard him honest, as contrasted to PDM leaders who are big looters who have taken billions of dollars out of Pakistan ( as proved by the Panama Papers and other evidence ), they are terrified, and dare not speak out for fear of being arrested, tortured, and even killed.

So I am speaking out on their behalf
