Raza Rumi, claims to be an independent liberal journalist of Pakistan.

But how independent and ‘liberal’ is he really ?

He tweeted that I want Pakistan to perish.

Does this amount to saying I want Pakistanis to perish ?

Raza,who has no shame, has totally twisted my words. In fact I want Pakistanis to prosper, but they can do so only in a reunited India under a secular modern minded leadership determined to rapidly modernise and industrialise the country, like Mustafa Kemal of Turkey.

This shameless person has been masquerading as a journalist for long, strutting about on the social media like a peacock. It is time his true colours are exposed.

The truth is that he has no principles, and is a downright sycophant.

Recently he congratulated the Pakistan Minister of Climate Change Sherry Rehman for being declared by Time magazine one of the 100 most influential women in the world.

This was surely the joke of the year. Can anyone seriously think that this lady, who is always decked up in the costliest clothes and cosmetics, cares two hoots for the poor and the suffering in Pakistan, where ordinary people are finding it difficult to even buy ata ? One should enquire how much her lipstick and shampoo cost, and whether they are imported ?

Earlier, Raza had rendered fulsome praise on that bigger crook, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, for her ‘great qualities of head and heart’.

Regarding the present controversy in Pakistan, Raza has made much of the note of Pakistan Supreme Court Justice Minallah in his article published in thefridayimes,com

But he deliberately does not say that this note, which was not a part of any judgment of the Court, was highly improper. It is a long standing, well established convention that judges should only speak through their judgments, and should not go into the public domain, a convention Justice Minallah flagrantly violated. Nor did Raza criticise Justice Faez Isa for going to Parliament and speaking there, at a time when there is a confrontation between the Supreme Court and Parliament.

All this is typical of Raza. He deliberately slurs over vital issues, perhaps in an attempt to please all.

Raza writes that judicial intervention in the political system must end.

He deliberately overlooks the fact that while certain issues are purely political, others are politico-legal. The present crisis in Pakistan is of the latter nature.

Article 224(2) of Pakistan’s Constitution mandates that elections must be held for a Provincial Assembly within 90 days of the dissolution of the Assembly. The 3 member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Bandial is only enforcing that provision. It is the duty of the Supreme Court to uphold the Constitution, but evidently Raza believes that the Court should fold its hands and turn a Nelson”s eye to this gross violation of the Constitution, simply because the controversy is also political.

One would have thought that all Pakistanis, including the media, would have supported Chief Justice Bandial and his brother judges in upholding the Cionstitution, but Raza, who is too clever by half, thinks otherwise.

And this is the man projected as the liberal and independent face of Pakistan’s media.
